#313: November 8, 2011 (Tuesday)

WHAT: TIME TO LEAVE
The time has come…for me to be deployed. Off to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport,FL in a few minutes; lay-over at Atlanta,GA and final destination at Philadelphia airport,PA after 5 hours. I’m going to be assigned in Wilmington, Delaware. Mixed emotions after staying 47 days at the staff house.. but mostly positive vibes and excitement, optimistic ‘coz Charles is by my side. It took us several hours to fit all our belongings in these 6 bags.. Thank you to all the people in Coral Springs,FL who have truly made our stay memorable, and very pleasant. You know who you are.. God bless you all :) Til we meet again.

#307: November 1, 2011 (Wednesday)

WHAT: UNDAS
Most of my uncles,aunts and cousins from my father’s side gathered at the Himlayang Pilipino Cemetery at QC, Philippines to celebrate the tradition of All saints’ and All souls’ day in the Philippines. It felt like I was with them through seeing the pictures and talking to them through video chat in the evening.

#308: November 3, 2011 (Tuesday)

WHAT: GOOD DEAL
I was amazed at the good deal I went for today. Instead of going to Starbucks and spend $10 or more, we went to 7-eleven. I bought a cute, thermal tumbler for $2 and got a grande-sized serving of pumpkin spice latte for free. Then I decided on this century doughnut for 99 cents. Which, when I heated was home, was heavenly. :) And I love the tumbler coz I’ll get to use it everyday for my morning coffee.

WHAT: UNFORGETTABLE HALLOWEEN…2011
Since it’s our first halloween celebration in the US, we wanted it to be special and unforgettable. And it sure was. Candies,chocolates for trick-or-treaters, my roommates and I put up halloween decorations, and had a simple get-together/party at our house…we invited the new neighbors over :)  What went on after midnight- is unforgettable for Rm 3274. LOL!

WHAT:A FULL DAY :)
After going to church, we went bowling for the 2nd time with the Besana family, after which we had lunch at their house, foosball, videoke and another hefty round of good times. Thanks to our generous hosts, once again. :)

WHAT: TIME FOR GROCERIES
My housemates and I always do our 1 week’s worth of groceries at Publix. Why? Because it’s just across the street. So convenient. We like shopping here. :) Because we’ve gone here several times, we’re more efficient now and it only takes a short time before we fill up our cart with all the things we need to cook for the entire week.

WHAT: IT’S JUSTIN’S TURN TO LEAVE…
The fourth to be deployed in our batch… Justin treated us to dinner before he left in the early morning for Washington. It was nice to have spent time with you here at the staff house, Justin, even for a little bit. Stay in touch. We’re just a text or phone call away. Get ready for the cold west coast!

WHAT: PATTY’S SWEET TREAT
If there’s one person who’s been such a blessing through the whole process, from credentialing, all the processes to get us here in the US, the exam, and the transition once we got here, it’s Patty. We are truly thankful for all she has done for us. Someone we can truly trust and count on. She brought us out again today to meet the recent October NPTE test takers, who are moving in with us to the staff house soon. After which, we spent the afternoon at the largest outlet mall in FL, burning away the calories by shopping!

#299: October 25, 2011 (Tuesday)

WHAT: DMV DAY
Last chance to review for the computer exam before going to the DMV, so we reviewed at the driving school in Miami. Our liaison fetched us from our house really early; and by the time we finished our drivers’ computer and actual driving tests in the afternoon, I was famished but really happy. Yay, Charles and I were granted our FL drivers license! Another important thing down. :)

WHAT: BABU’S TREAT IN THE MORNING & JUNAR’S LAST DAY IN FL
Babu treated us to East fusion buffet in the morning while our house was being fumigated. In the evening we had a little going away party for Junar who’s leaving for Camp Point, Illinois for deployment. Junar’s the third person to be deployed in our batch. Though it’s the third time that someone’s leaving, there’s always that mixed bevy of emotions….of sadness and happiness.
